This seax is an exploration in the style of traditional sheath making as well as some methods of construction. 

 

The blade is five bars of metal welded together in the forge. The spine is wrought iron, the middle three bars are each 7 layers twisted together, and the edge is 400 layers of steel.

 

The handle is stacked birch bark with moose antler and brass, and the tang is peened over on the end. 

 

The sheath is wet formed cow leather with brass ornamentation and simple tooling.
